The perfect pair of shoes

As a woman, we have all had a perfect pair of shoes.  The ones that fit just right and match with every outfit.  The ones that when they finally break or don't fit you are deeply sadden to say goodbye.  Well little Sophia might have just found her perfect pair of shoes and I couldn't be more proud because they were a birthday present from Auntie Meggy.

There is nothing I love more than shopping for my  peanuts (all of them).  As I was cruising through the outlets I saw this adorable romper and gold jellies.  I LOVED jellies growing up.  In fact I remember going shopping with my Mom and getting a pair of jellies every summer.  I knew they would be the perfect shoes for Sophia's vacation to Cancun in a few weeks.
Last Friday I got a text from Lynette (with this picture) describing a girl after my own heart.  Lynette briefly described that Sophia was spending her evening walk around the house, taking her shoes on and off all by herself.  Lynette asked if she was going to take those off before bed, when her sweet little voice says "No Mommy I keep them on".

On Saturday, as I was getting my errands done I received another text from Lynette.
"There still on. They don't look nearly as cute with socks on".  Nothing like Jellies, socks and snow :-) A young Minnesota Fashionista after my own heart.

Have a blast in Cancun Lynette, Tory and Sophia!  Enjoy the warmth, you all deserve it!

Go Yotes!

Last week we decided to mix it up.  Since we haven't had a date night in awhile, we took advantage of the Bluemedia Coyote tickets.  The stadium is on the other side of town we don't get out there too often.  I get a sense of home every time I walk into a hockey arena.  It reminds me of the countless hours spent in an arena watching (as an adult), eating snacks and playing (as a kid).
During winter I felt like I grew up in a hockey arena and to be honest all my memories were positive (minus throwing up in the cup holder on the way to Cullen's game).  Watching the Yotes definitely made me miss MN just a little bit.  But Tommy and I enjoyed the free food and drinks and a perfect Coyote victory.  Date night success.

Coronado Historic House Tour

A few weekends ago the weather was perfect.  Since the weather was perfect, why not stroll around Phoenix looking at houses.  After supporting a friend's charity at Matt's Big Breakfast, I decided to give back to myself and do something I find to be super fun and relaxing. Touring Houses.
I rounded up a good friend Megan and we headed to check out the Coronado House Tour.  There is nothing better than checking out someones historic home.  Such neat decorating ideas that preserve the house's history while adding a modern twist.
Gorgeous tiling, exposed brick and vintage glassware what more could a historic house tour need.
I can't wait till the next one... who is coming with me??

Beach day and delicious food night

We continued to struggle through vacation come Thursday. Days filled with the beach and sun.  Each night picking the next restaurant to try.   After the bar crawl Wednesday night, people seemed to be relaxing a little bit more.
Vacation can be rough and sometimes a little water and a nap is needed.
But on most occassions our days were greeted with margaritas and sols.  Buckets and buckets of sol.  We had to stay cool in the perfect sunshine of 85.
The Slates' kiddos made their arrival late Thursday and had no problem finding the fun on the beach.  Tommy quickly learned he would become Noah's football route coach this week.  I am not sure who had more fun Tommy or Noah (as long as it was acceptable to have a beer in his hand).  Don't worry I am talking about Tommy not Noah.
After a few more Sols and some more time with Rach and Noah, we were exhausted and ready for dinner.  Christina made a great dinner pick Edith's, which was right next to our condos.  As always in the morning our reservation started with 6 people and by dinner time it quickly turned into 20.
The atmosphere was gorgeous and the food was even better.  I even got to try my first taste of lobster and it was delicious.  It was the perfect setting. Definitely the best restaurant in Cabo :-)
Since we ate, and ate, and ate and ate we had to go dancing.  We (us girls) danced our little hearts away, while the boys fell in love with Tommy's knowledge of sports.  I would continue to hear about all the fantasy sports teams Tommy continued to join all week.  Thank you Mike for continuing to feed into the problem. Hahaha.  Another great day written in the books.

Bar Crawl

After spending a full day in the sun, we decided to heat things up at night.  In order to start the celebration week off strong we had some bachelor and bachelorette activities for Mike and Em.  Which consisted of a yummy dinner and a competitive bar crawl.  It didn't take long to find some teammates (Rachel, Stina, Mom and Ali) and to get into our competitive spirits.  We scoured the streets of Cabo solving clues, completing challenges and trying to stay upright in wedges that were a little too tall with all the uneven pavement.
Mitch, Angela and Jess
Some of the challenges involved drinking as a team and/or solo competitions.  I started to notice my family was more than happy to help :-)
Things even got a little out of hand as shots had to be consumed upside down.  Ali gladly accepted this challenge.  We had a lot of fun and even more importantly we placed (3rd)... of course the bride's team got 1st.  After running around Cabo all night, we started to recognize the locals.  We knew all the places to go and everyone was so friendly.  I think all the guests quickly learned why the Lentz' love Cabo so much.

Expectations

To say that Cabo was good would be lying.  Cabo exceeded all expectations and was absolutely perfect.  Just what we needed for a week :-)  Since we were all there to celebrate Mr. and Mrs. Slates, we were never short on laughs, smiles and great memories.  On Tuesday we arrived in the middle of the day and met Kara, Frank, Em and Mike in the Cabo airport.  The party began immediately following a few big hugs (and it never stopped).  The first few days began with breakfast on the beach, a nap, laying/drinking in the sun, and dinner with 30 of your closest friends.  Everyday we would start with our roommates and life long friend Jessie and her boyfriend and every night we would end dancing and having dinner with whoever had arrived for the wedding.
It was great to see all the people there to celebrate Em and Mike's love.  It was also nice to get to know Em and Mike's families and friends even better.  More importantly we got to know Em's new family pretty well and they couldn't be more adorable and sweet.
One of our favorite spots was the brewery.  We discovered this place early Wednesday and enjoyed a beer on the rooftop with everyone.  Later in the week we would watch an ASU basketball victory there  as well (for a romantic Valentines day).
There were plenty of beers consumed on the beach and even some intriguing purchases made for friends back home (or at least that was some people were saying).  Emily proudly said that she would be wearing the Vikings mask for the first Vikings home game in the new stadium.  I know I can't be in Mike's brain but in that moment I am sure the wedding was confirmed, hahaha!  Love ya Em!
Spending time with Jess and Mitch led to aching stomach and face muscles, due to all the laughing.  It is so fun to see one of your oldest friends be so happy.  Glad we were able to give Tommy and Mitch some time to themselves and we were able to make some new memories together as well.  Jess and Mitchy, come visit soon.
