And so it begins...

On Tuesday at work we started building our new playground. For awhile now we have wanted, dreamed, hoped and prayed for a amazing playground for our kiddos. Thanks to the Thunderbirds we are able to finally make this dream a reality. We are so excited and thankful to start construction and can't wait to see the finally results. Check out what it looks like now... It's a work in progress

The Taste of Phoenix

Another Sunday Funday started early last Sunday.  I woke up around 5:30 am to help Em and Bluemedia set up for the best event of the season.  Yep you guessed right, The Taste!!
This event is put on by the Boys and Girls Club and is the event that I can not wait for all year.  After working all day to set up for the event we were finally able to enjoy all our hard work.
The Boys and Girls Club closes down Kierland Commons and has numerous vendors lining the streets.

Needless to say this might be what heaven is like....

A Chill Friday

After a long week at work I decide to just chill and relax on my friday night (especially since I am getting up early to go to the SARRC family picnic).  So Pat and I head to Tempe Marketplace for dinner at Maria Maria and a movie (The Haunting in Connecticut).  The night was great just being able to relax and I'd recommend the movie.  I am driving home around midnight and actually pull up to my condo two seconds before Em and Turtle.  I get out of my car exhausted, look up and immediately start laughing.  Look at the outfits Em and I chose to wear out that night.....
This is when you know your best friend too well, mind you we haven't hung out in days because we have both been sooo busy!! Weird....

SARRC Breakfast!

Make an IMPRINT.....
Get INVOLVED.....
Be COMMITTED....
I am HOPEFUL!!!

Hard at work.

Today was exhausting and also the most exciting day of the year. I was up at 4:20am getting ready for the SARRC annual breakfast. This is my work's biggest fundraising event of the year.  It showcases what we all do everyday and more importantly our fantastic families.  The breakfast was amazing and I was so proud to say I was apart of the SARRC staff.
The rest of the day was easy and followed by meetings as always on a typical Thursday. The toddler teachers and I were cleaning the classroom and changing toy bins when all of a sudden we came up with the great idea to play a prank.
I hopped in the box and they brought me to the preschool room and asked the girls to help carry the box. Needless to say you know what happened next... Yep they got the crap scared out of them. We preceeded to do this to about 8 more coworkers. Everyone laughing and joining the fun in order to get the next victim. Lee wins the best reaction award. TGIF!!!

Here is where I spent the last part of my day...

8 Reasons why I love work

Yesterday Collyn and Jamie came in to see the kiddos and we all went to to lunch one last time.  We tried to go to My Florist but since there are soooo many of us we headed over to Zoe's instead.
Talk about delicious!!  Of course to keep with my kid like ways I ordered a delicious grilled cheese and fresh fruit.  And then of course I had to try their chocolate cake because it's been voted The Best Cake in Phoenix 4 years in a row.  (Don't worry Mom I still think Crazy Cake is better) Not only did I have the tastiest lunch, I also had the best company.  The girls I work(ed) with are the best and remind me how much I love what I do just for the people I work with.... just thought I should let you know.....

LeeAnne: You are so thoughtful, kind and sweet.  You are always invested in the families 100% and even more importantly your invested in your co-workers.
Dana:  The way your brain works with numbers in amazing (I definitely could be jealous)!  You are always willing to work together and bounce ideas off each other.
Collyn:  I love that you always help me to not sweat the small stuff and your always willing to deal with the difficult stuff to help out everyone.
Kristin:  You always laugh with me and at me.  Your ambitious and always willing to work together to make everything flawless and perfect.
Melissa: You are always listening and being respectful.  Your confidence with families is amazing.
Katie:  You are by far the best dancer I've seen come through SARRC.  Your positive attitude is contagious and the kids catch it!
Jamie:  You are always looking for a better and more organized way to do things.  I love that you'll jump in and do anything.
Jenny:  You are creative and artistic beyond belief (also definitely jealous).  Your faith makes you such a strong and balanced person.

What would I do without these 8 people in my life??

A ninja mission to Tuscon

It's official I have finally been to Tuscon, it only took 5 years of living in AZ! I can honestly say that Tuscon definitely suceeded my expectations (which didn't take much considering I've never been).
Saturday morning we got up soooo early for the run.  I was suppose to meet Pat and Em before the run but I didn't find anyone and had to run by myself, sad day :-(  The best part of this story is that I finished 3 seconds after Em and I still did not run into her.  This is ridiculous Em and I must not be paying attention.
To continue my Saturday I came home, showered and nap before an exciting lunch date with Mare.   I hadn't seen Mare in over a year and it still amazes me to this day how we even met.  Mare and I had almost every class together Freshman year because we were both planning on being teachers.  Little did I know that she was from the same small town that my cabin is in Montana.  Anyways it was great to catch up and I really hope she finds a teaching job in AZ and is around a lot more often.
After lunch, we packed up our stuff and headed to Tuscon, the drive down was ridiculous because of an accident but we entertained ourselves.  About half way through our drive I realize I forgot my id (I mean sometimes I wonder if I have a brain).
So needless to say it was an interesting night getting kicked out of everywhere we went.  We had a blast hanging out in Tuscon and trying something new.
It's too bad UofA is in Tuscon or I might actually like it. Just kidding Lee and CaCa...

Recovery and onto the next thing....

Today was a productive and fun day at work.  We seem to solve a lot of problems before school starts on Monday again.  Spring break is over    :-( Thanks for the laughs and harassment at work (you know who you are)  without that I wouldn't stay grounded and wouldn't learn to laugh at myself.  I took a long nap after work because I was so exhausted and now off to carb load for Pat's Run.  We are off to eat at my favorite restaurant.  I can't wait to eat the best macaroni in the entire valley.... yummmmmy.....

If your bored tomorrow around 7 am (hahahaha) check us out around ASU Stadium.

*Yea for lunch tomorrow with Mare, I can't wait!!  Look forward to seeing you*

Nothing good happens after 8:30pm

The past two weeks have been filled with exhaustion.  I have been continuing to take a nap at every opportunity and I have gone to bed around 8pm every night this week.

After a long day of meeting after meeting, I was definitely looking for some activity or work out when I got home.  Em and I talked about hitting up the old Bikram Yoga studio in Tempe.  We've been saying we were going to kick our own butts on Thursday night.  So by the time I got home tonight (or I guess yesterday because I am posting so late) I was ready to talk Em out of working out my excuses included...
i was hungry (your not suppose to eat 2 hours before yoga)
the 8pm sessions are late (it meant we wouldn't get home till 9:45)

Then I proceed to tell Em that nothing good happens after 8:30pm.... this is my new old lady motto.  Anyways we convince ourselves to get in shape and have a pretty amazing yoga session (so glad we went) and I know your all wondering....... yes there was NO ball sweat accident (if you don't know what I am talking about just ask, it's a good laugh)!!

So about 4 hours ago I sit down to write this post to tell everyone that it was worth staying up late to get a good workout, cook and watch the office.  I am starting to think that maybe there is a reason to stay up past 8:30pm.  When all of a sudden I hear barking, yelling and shuffling.  Instantly I know something is going on at Em's and I worry because she is alone.  I jump up scared and run to her house.....(luckily Kurt was there)..........
Dog Fight..... :-(
Em and Jess's doggies got in a fight, Em went to break them up and Emmy's doggie bit her in the heat of the moment.  So my night completely changed and we headed to the ER.  After an hour or two, shots, IV and possible stitches (i came home early because it is already one) Em's hand is getting better.  Scary night.... we will see how tomorrow goes.....

Feel Better Emmy!

A Mix of Mom and Dad

In the last week, God has been pointing out to me how much I am an exact mix of my parents.  A little bit of Mom and a little bit of Dad.  Even though my parents might want to admit that I got these qualities from them, I definitely know I wasn't adopted.

Last night I performed my first independent woman/condo owner task on my own.  Now that I've mastered cooking and I am no longer afraid of the stove (in fact the stove gets used 3-4 times a week).  I decided to tackle my toilet and shower.  Mind you that my toilet broke almost two weeks ago and I had no plunger and have been out of town on the weekend.  So needless to say I pulled up my sleeves and unclogged my shower and and fixed my toilet, ALL on my own.

This handy man side.... definitely from my mom (sorry dad)

Today I was reminded again how much I LOVE Oprah!

Love of Oprah.... definitely from my mom (thank goodness)

I watch or DVR Oprah everyday and today she yet again had an another amazing show.  My favorite thing that Oprah does on her show is when she has musician's perform.  I can not put into words how much I LOVE live music.

Extreme LOVE of music.... definitely from my dad

If I can't be there in person then the next best thing is watching them perform on T.V.  In the last week Oprah has had James Taylor, Carrie Underwood and Kenny Chesney  on the show(all amazing in their own way and yes Dad NO ONE compares to James Taylor).  A fantastic way to end a work day is by turning on the T.V. and watching someone perform, ahhhhhh......

Off to dinner with the college girlfriends :-) Yea, like old times!

**BTW:  CONGRATS Amy and Jim!!!!  I am so happy for you two!!  You couldn't be a better match**

Monday of Spring Break

Spring Break is finally here for us Non-profit teachers at SARRC and thank goodness.  I already miss the kiddos and their families but it sure was amazing to be able to wake up whenever I wanted (even though it was only a half and hour later than normal) DARN routine and head to work with no worries in my head.  I had great plans today to work for a few hours, run some errands, meet a girlfriend for lunch and come back to work some more.

After almost accidentally killing my friend (I will explain later) my day bounced back when I went to lunch with Collyn.  So I should obviously explain the near death experience since it is probably on every reader's mind.  First off I sent Em to work with some egg bake my mom made from Easter.  I forgot there was mushrooms in it and Tommy ate some and of course is extremely allergic.  Thank goodness nothing bad happen or else I would feel horrible but then again you know what they said, Karma!  hahaha :-) just kidding
I had an awesome lunch and even better company at Le Grande Orange today aka LGO.  I had never been to LGO but had heard so many great things about this grocery.  Easily located by work, I headed over for a great lunch to finally celebrate CaCa's birthday.  All in all my lunch date definitely made my day and made me appreciate everything and everyone in my life, thanks for the reminder.

To Caca..... You're amazing!!  Thanks for being a great friend!! Thanks for always making me laugh....even to the point of crying!! You deserve the best and I will do anything to help you get it!!  Thanks for teaching me to tell others exactly how I feel and how to make amazing letter formations!!  I miss you at least once a day at work (if not more) and work will never be the same!!
Luv ya, Megs

Easter....

Thanks Easter Bunny, You're the best.....

LOVE YOU MUCHO!!!

....busy planning!!!
Happy Easter Everyone, Love ya!!

Plans for Saturday

Saturday, April 18th is approaching way to fast....  In order to stay in shape Em, Pat and Brent and I decided to sign up for the Pat Tillman Run.  So early next Saturday were getting ready to run 4.2 miles in memory and support of him.  The track starts at the ASU stadium and finishes on the field :-)
When  I went to go run this afternoon, little did I know how fast you can fall out of shape.  I can not even believe that 3 months ago I ran 13 miles without stopping.  I tried to run 2 miles today and needless to say I am sweating like a dog, out of breath and exhausted.  Who knows what kind of miracle I am going to have to pull in order to not look like I am dying come Saturday morning.  Hopefully with a little friend and family support it will be fun to take time and celebrate everything Pat Tillman did for ASU and everyone else......
Go Devils!!

The Taste of Phoenix

I am trying to get better about posting daily or even just more frequently because a little birdy told me if you type it they will read, hahaha. (I am a nerd)  Anyways last night some girlfriends and I got free tickets to the Pre-taste aka The Taste of Phoenix.  If you live in Phoenix and have never heard of this event I highly recommend it, it is a great way to help kids in your community and of course taste some new wines.  (I'll give more details later)
Since Bluemedia does all the signage (is that even a word?) for the event we were able to attend the pre-taste which is just an amazing charity auction to raise money.  This event was unlike anything I've ever seen.  Tons of supporters and prizes to bid on.  There were cars, trips, scuba gear, puppies, wine and everything in between.  (I really hope that someday SARRC will be able to do something like this :-)  As the night came to an end I realized first off how stuffed I was from all the great tasty food and second all the money that went back to the Boys and Girls Club.  Us girls had a blast and I bet you would too!!

So if you LOVE helping others like I do, come to The Taste of Phoenix April 26th, 2009 @ 6pm.  Ticket prices vary.  The event is at Kierland Commons, they close the entire street and the streets are lined with vendors of some of the best wine and food in the Valley. Delicious. Here's a list to name a few...
Chloe's Corner
Bamboo Club
California Pizza Kitchen
Estate House
Famous Dave's
Four Peaks
Magiannos
Maria Maria
Macayo's
RA
Sauce
Melting Pot
Z Tejas
Zinc
....just a few, there's many more :-)

Think about it.....

Country Thunder 2009: Yea

It has definitely been awhile since I last posted but I am still wishing I was in Florence; sitting in my lawn chair, beer in hand, listening to country music with friends.  It all started Wednesday night when Jess and I packed the car with tents, clothes, sleeping bags, blankets, food, drinks, canopy, chairs everything you could possibly imagine.  I had never been camping for more than a few hours in a tent so I have no idea what I was in for.  We didn't get to Florence till 9 that night so we quickly set up the tent with a little help and headed to watch Diamond Rio.  I froze during the night but I absolutely loved meeting all the new people, enjoying the sunshine, time off and of course the country music (Harry is still my favorite).  While Em and I knew we should've wrote down all the funny things that happened so we would not forget and I could blog about them later.  After a week of events I definitely can't remember everything but here are a few things that bring a smile to my face when I think of CT.....
-our neighbors
-friends running over friends
-clothing switches
-Frank the Tank
-Kurt packing up his own tent
-and Yea!

Until next year...... CT 2010!
